The unjust sentence given to Ramiro R. Muņiz does not fit the crime. It is harsh and severe.

Uncorrected judicial records made him subject to the three strikes guidelines. He is serving a sentence of life without parole.

Ramiro R. Muņiz suffered greatly  in maximum security penitentiaries. A successful attorney with an uncompromising love for people did not deserve to be sent where he would spend years of his life in solitary confinement. He was unable to visit with his family or consult with attorneys so that he could prove his innocence.

Ramiro R. Muņiz  is 75 years of age. He has submitted an Application for Compassionate Release, based on his age and chronic medical conditions. He is underweight and he suffers chronic illness that resulted from aspiration pneumonia, COPD, and arteriosclerosis. Due to the strong medications administered for his chronic medical conditions he  suffers from dementia. He ambulates by wheelchair and he is dependent on oxygen.

We extend our deepest gratitude to senators, congressmen, and organizations that have supported our efforts to advocate for the release of Ramsey Muņiz.  Members of LULAC, the American GI Forum, Friends of Justice, Tejano Democrats, Mexican American Democrats, and others have provided assistance for which we will always be grateful.
